If there were any car to overshadow the 542-horsepower Jaguar XJR that’s coming to the New York Auto Show, this is it. Meet the Jaguar XKR-S GT – a street-legal, higher-performance version of the already hardcore XKR-S that will be headed to North America in very limited quantities. Only 30 will be offered on our continent, with 25 earmarked for the United States and the remaining five going to Canada. The cost of entry? $174,000 when it goes on sale this August.

What’s New for 2013

The 2013 Jaguar XJ has a new base engine: a supercharged 3.0-liter V6. All-wheel drive is a new option for this V6, and an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission is standard for all XJ models. The XJ Ultimate is a new limited-production model, and there are upgrades for the XJ Supercharged and XJ Supersport. All XJs feature an improved electronics interface and a new sound system.

 

Remember The E-Type? Honoring The Glory, F-Type

The Jaguar F-Type Roadster is the spiritual successor to the famous Jaguar E-Type of the sixties. It comes with a choice of supercharged V6 and V8 engines, as well as dynamic styling and a luxurious, driver-focused cabin. Buyers looking for a new Jaguar coupe will have to wait until summer 2014, when the hard-top F-Type Coupe arrives, but for now the roadster is a very desirable choice.
